Research related to musculoskeletal disorders:
Background:
The multidisciplinary Pain Clinic were, in 1998, commissioned by the local political authority to run a model pain clinic, to continuously educate professionals in Primary Care as well as to further develop methods for intervention focusing examination, biomedical treatment of chronic pain and rehabilitation for psychosocial complications.
During recent years we have developed a marked profile in behavioural medicine since psychological co morbidity and psychosocial complications can be pronounced in patients with chronic pain.
The research in our unit focus methods for early detection of care seekers at high risk for the development of long-term pain related disability as well as efficient interventions based on cognitive-behaviour psychological theory. As we are a small unit we perform our research in close cooperation with other SOUND members, local social security offices and in collaboration with the department for physiotherapy in Primary Care.
